A very rare Denarius of Carinus

Carinus, 283-285. Denarius (Bronze, 18 mm, 1.99 g, 1 h), Rome, 283-284. IMP CARINVS P AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Carinus to right. Rev. PAX AVGG Pax advancing left, holding olive branch in her right hand and long scepter in her left. Cohen 67 var. (bust draped only). Hunter -. RIC 274 var. (bust draped only). Very rare and exceptionally well preserved for this difficult issue. Light deposits and with very minor smoothing, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the Joseph Markowitz Collection (1897-1981), brought to Israel in 1949 and kept in the family ever since.
